Are you a Blogger or a Facebooker?

Are you a Blogger or a Facebooker? In the following, I will be explaining some of the differences between Blog’s and Facebook, so that you the user will have a better idea of which you’d prefer and in what situation you’d prefer which, or if in the end you’d prefer having both.
Both Facebook and Blogs have drastically changed the web and impacted all areas of society. Both have enabled millions of people to communicate and have their voice be heard.

A Blog is a website that individuals can create where they can post anything of their interest, such as stories, articles, pictures, links etc… There are basically no rules. It’s your free space, where you can post anything you want on an ongoing basis. These posts appear in chronological order, with the most recent entry appearing first, at the top of the page. Blogs may also include features such as comments and links to increase and suggest user feedback and interaction. Blogs are used by both many Companies/ Corporations for business use and by Individuals for personal use. They come in a wide array of shapes and forms. Today, the number of blogs on the web is extensive, definitely in the millions.
Facebook is a social networking website. This is a place where you can post pictures and links, communicate with friends and family and find long lost friends.  On Facebook, you can also chat with your contacts/ buddies and play popular games such as Farmville and Mafia Wars. Facebook has also become a space for Companies/ Corporations to interact with customers. Companies are now using Facebook as an advertising tool, where they post upcoming updates, promotions and obtain customer feedback.
Therefore, in my opinion the major difference between Facebook and Blogs has to do with reader/user interactivity and popularity. Both are web spaces where the individual or a business can publish any information desired. However, with the blog there is less visibility to the interaction going on. On the blog you can only email the blogger or post a comment. On the other hand, on Facebook you can make a comment, chat with the user or simply check the “like icon” for the particular post, so that other readers/ users know that this is post of interest to others. With Facebook you can more/less measure which individuals, businesses and posts are most popular.
Based on these simple facts on Facebook and Blogs, which would you prefer? In my opinion, my best answer to this question would be…It all depends on the amount of reader interaction/ feedback that you’d like to receive and on the subject matter. If the subject matter has to do with advertising for a company, or an individual’s opinion on a topic and your goal is to receive a lot of interaction/ feed back, then my opinion is that Facebook would be best. Conversely, if the subject matter is more informative to the user/ reader than interactive, then my opinion is that a blog would be best. In the end, both Blogs and Facebook are valuable tools to the web today where communication across all individuals and all companies is endless.
